I’m willing to do whatever it takes to educate all children. This means being flexible and open to learning new methods and actually utilizing them. With this class, I really like that social media usage is the primary tool we use. It expands our ideas to people who never would have heard us without it. I remember when I went through, following different educational accounts, I got my first follow back from someone else in the education community and was so excited! I thought it was crazy that my page was expanding already. I definitely plan to continue using my account as my career continues because there’s such a wealth of knowledge at my fingertips beyond just what I learn in my classes. Being an educator, it’s important to move with the times. Your students are forever changing, just like what they need to learn. Simultaneously expanding your own knowledge as you teach your students is one of the major keys to succeeding in providing the best education you can. This, along with ensuring a healthy and creative environment for your students to grow in, especially paying mind to those who require more assistance. One way I’ll make sure I’m accessible to my students who may need extra help is to be at school early and late to not only ensure I’m ready for each school day but to allow a sort of “study hall” for struggling students or students who want to make sure they’re on track. This, as well as some sort of open lunch period for students to come in. I know personally I generally didn’t like asking for help in class due to social anxiety, but if there was an open time for me to come in that’s when I would come in for any questions, so I want to provide the same opportunity for my future students to increase my capability of educating all children.

ReplyDeleteI love how you responded to the question, "How am I going to educate all children". Being open and learning about and using new teaching methods is something I aspire to do as well! I too have thought about how social media content expands to different places, especially on TikTok. I couldn't even tell you how many videos I have saved in my likes of things I've never known about or even considered or things that I thought couldn't possibly be true prior to seeing the video. The app is a good tool to bring awareness to the differences in people's experiences. I really like your idea of coming in early to school and staying later to help students who may need extra help on assignments. Some students may not have parents at home to give them the assistance that they need or they might not be able to give it to them due to their own educational experience.
Hey Kady!! I’m so glad you mentioned TikTok! I love how there’s such a variety on there and you can learn so much about so many different things. I love coming across fellow teacher accounts where they share their tips and show a good example of things you can do in your classroom. And exactly! They could need the extra help for any reason and I just want to be there to be able to provide it for them.

ReplyDeleteI love how you were straight to the point in the opening of your blog post. It is simple, I think; you just have to make that commitment to want to educate all of your future students as they need to be taught. It is true that students are constantly changing throughout their academic career, which is why it is so important to remain open to new ideas, new information, and more. We as teachers not only teach our students, but in many ways we learn from them too. I think your plan of action is great, especially your first suggestion where you had mentioned that you would give extra time and help to students who need it and want to stay on track. You seem to understand the meaning of diversifying your students needs in the classroom and because of that I am confident you will be very successful as a future educator.
